Studio & Events Manager - Full Time Position

Location: The Creatory, Linden (Johannesburg)

 

Are you a dynamic, highly organised, and creative leader with a passion for creativity, events, and customer experiences? The Creatory is looking for a Studio & Events Manager to oversee our daily operations, lead our team, and create unforgettable creative experiences for our clients.

 

About The Creatory

The Creatory is a vibrant creative space & sanctuary where individuals, families, and corporates come to relax, explore creativity, and engage in creative workshops, paint-and-sip events, and ceramic painting experiences. We are expanding our offerings and looking for a dedicated leader to manage studio operations and event coordination while ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

 

We Are Looking for Someone Who Is...

A Proactive, creative, and highly organised individual with strong leadership skills and a passion for creativity, events, and customer experiences. The ideal candidate will be:

  • Experienced in event, studio, or store management, with a background in retail, creativity, or a related field.

  • Independent & mobile, Must have their own reliable vehicle for travel to off-site events, supplier collections, and other business needs.

  • A strong leader, capable of training, supervising, and motivating a team while maintaining smooth studio operations.

  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, able to juggle multiple tasks, events, and schedules efficiently.

  • Great with people, fostering a positive, collaborative workplace and delivering exceptional customer service.

  • A creative thinker, always coming up with fresh ideas for workshops, events, and customer engagement.

  • A problem-solver, able to adapt to last-minute changes and troubleshoot issues effectively.

  • Tech-savvy, comfortable using booking systems, POS software, and marketing tools.

  • Flexible and adaptable, willing to work occasional evenings for special events and handle urgent studio needs when required.

Additional skills such as experience with event coordination, marketing, content creation & sales would be a plus!

Key Responsibilities

1. Staff Leadership & Operations Management

  • Supervise and train studio staff, ensuring smooth daily operations and high-quality customer experiences.

  • Foster a positive workplace culture, recognising staff contributions and improving retention.

  • Oversee staff schedules, workshop bookings, and studio administration (emails, calls, notifications).

  • Set performance expectations, provide feedback, and maintain a motivated and accountable team.

  • Drive sales and business growth, promoting workshops, in-store products, and services.

  • Manage stock levels, supplies, and vendor relationships to maintain studio needs.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and creative techniques to enhance offerings.

  • Be available for after-hours work when needed for last-minute events or urgent studio needs.

 

2. Event Management

  • Plan and execute workshops, private events, and corporate bookings, ensuring smooth operations.

  • Manage event logistics, including setup, materials, seating, and catering.

  • Assign staff roles for events and provide excellent customer service.

  • Be on-site to troubleshoot any challenges and last-minute adjustments.

  • Lead post-event wrap-ups, ensuring cleanup, feedback collection, and continuous improvement.

  • Develop and introduce new creative workshops and event themes to engage diverse clients.

  • Create marketing materials and promotional content for events to drive engagement and bookings.

  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors, event partners, and suppliers.

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to promote events via social media, email campaigns, and in-store marketing.

 

3. Studio Coordination & Customer Experience Management

  • Ensure a welcoming, organised studio environment, assisting with walk-in activities like ceramic painting.

  • Provide exceptional customer service, handling inquiries, bookings, payments, and client follow-ups.

  • Assist in developing and pricing new workshops and creative products.

  • Oversee invoicing, stock management, and financial responsibilities.

  • Create content and promotional materials to align with The Creatory’s brand.

  • Manage product fulfilment, including order packaging and the glazing & firing process.

  • Ensure the studio’s booking system, payment processing, and POS software function smoothly.

 

Working Hours

  • Tuesday – Friday: 09h00 – 17h00

  • Saturday & Sunday: 09h00 – 17h30

​

Mondays off + 2 weekends off per month

Occasional evening / additional hours may be required for special events.

 

Salary

  • Monthly Salary: To be discussed
